enduring appeal
A smokin' Kate Moss made a controversial return to the catwalk for Marc Jacob's hotel-insprired Louis Vuitton line on Wednesday. The supermodel, who was last spotted on a Fashion Week runway in 2004, defied French smoking bans by lighting up a cigarette as she closed for the impressive collection. Models ascended the stage in four ornate, gilded elevators each flanked by a uniformed bellboy, accompanied by a soundtrack you would expect no more from an opera epic - just imagine all of Hollywood's most intense sound bytes, clipped, cropped and combined!
Jacobs explained, "It was supposed to be a hotel, it's actually my experience at Claridges's. I love when I see these exquisite creatures get out of the elevator, and some of them would be maids, hookers, mistresses, wives, criminals..."
The scandalous event turned plenty of heads - guests were welcomed by waitresses in French maid regalia serving vodka shots despite the shows 10am start time and models cuffed with crystal links. But, it was Moss who stole the show from an impressive lineup including modelling veterans Amber Valletta, Naomi Campbell and a bevy of fresh up-and-coming faces.
"Rather than have all the girls be interchangeable, I wanted the show to have some newer models who are unknown and mysterious to us and then some women whose characters and beauty we know well, like Kate and Naomi," Jacobs said.
Proving her enduring appeal, we can't get enough of the fabulous but little-bit-naughty Miss Moss.
Just a heads up, she makes her appearance around the 9:50 min mark.
