oh, bardot!

Seriously, like how ridiculously good looking was BB? Everytime I look at a picture of Bardot in her heyday I immediately want to bouffant my hair, kohl my eyes, get myself a deep mahogany tan and depart for the south of France. Au revoir!

if only . . .

Right now I'm loving typography-based art, and particularly loving this one. It certainly struck a chord. Sigh.

I found this on the gorgeous interior design-based blog, You Are The River.

platforms, denim + victorian collars

In an attempt to pick out a few of my favourite outfits from the new Wrangler AW 2011 Lookbook, it would seem I have posted close to the entire collection... Some of the heavier pieces may be a little ill-suited for an Australian summer, but given our notorious 'four seasons in one day' climate we will no doubt be digging out the cable knits and boyfriend sweater shirts from the hidden depths of our wardrobes when temperatures begin to drop.

a new way to shop the world

Warning: This website is highly addictive. You may lose countless hours (and dollars) navigating it's fashionable offerings. Of course, I have my eye firmly fixed on this.

The Farfetch philosophy according to their website:

farfetch.com unites the world´s best independent fashion boutiques, so that you can buy from the most interesting designer fashion brands globally in one easy-to-shop website. This new concept means you can shop from boutiques in Paris, London, Como, Copenhagen, California and New York  in just a few seconds, all from the comfort of your own home or office.

NARS

In the wonderful world of make-up, nothing comes close to NARS. After 16 years in the business, this eponymous beauty brand is finally opening its first flagship store at 413 Bleecker, NYC.

ny.racked.com via WWD has just posted this exclusive story on the new boutique, due to open its doors on Wednesday this week.

Something nice to note - if you feel like combining cupcakes with your cosmetics, you can pop by the Magnolia Bakery, oh so conveniently situated just a few doors down. Now, if only I lived in New York . . .

slim aarons

Slim Aarons (1916-2006) perfected, if not invented, the environmental portrait.

After working as a combat photographer in World War II, he moved to California carrying out his self-described mission: to document "attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places."

Always relaxed and informal, his iconic pictures showed the rich and famous relaxing in their natural habitat, which more often than not involved the pool.

Habitually Chic conducted this brief interview with Aarons' daughter Mary back in 2007, it makes for quite an interesting read.

I have a folder full to the brim of style snapped by The Sartorialist over the years. Here are just a few favourites, some old and some new.
